Pica8也開發名為starter kit的 SDN Application，

其實就跟我之前申請的計畫相同，目標都是針對資安的issues做偵測與防禦。

以下是我所整理和討論較關鍵的部分，有興趣的人可以參考摟~

 

Very few network engineers are ready to adopt a large-scale SDN project today, but starting small with a starter kit might appeal to them.

這句話就是針對認為OpenFlow沒必要也起不來的學者所做的一個回應，

large-scale 的 SDN project 目前除了Google外，其他人可能都認為OpenFlow並不適用於此，

但是較小規模的use case，像Pica8的starter kit或許是OpenFlow的一個切入點。

 

These guys are all very intrigued by SDN solutions and open networking:

because they'll be able to self-provision and program the network rather than be locked in.

 大公司認為OpenFlow的價值在於 可以SELF-provision且可將網路程式化等兩個好處。

 

This new starter kit extends that strategy by packaging hardware and software aimed at a specific network monitoring use case.

這邊就是說  Pica8的starter kit 的策略就是將硬體(switch)和軟體(controller上的start kit)做一個整合，市場就鎖定在network monitoring的use case上。

 

white-box switches resonate with high-tech companies. They recognize that switches are eventually going to look just like servers.

這句最經典，許多公司認為OF Switch(抑或一般bare-metal switches)最後都會像是server一樣的被操作及看待。
